DVZONA Diana Coandă & VKTR 04.09 - 10.10.2025

Silence
120 x 120 cm., oil on canvas

We inaugurate the season with the collective exhibition DVZONA by Diana Coandă (Timişoara, Romania, 1974) and VKTR , Víctor Velasco Recio (Avilés, 1986). Both are exhibiting at the Gallery for the first time, and for this exhibition we have selected works that reflect the evolution of their individual careers after more than a decade of working together.

The exhibition is part of the first edition of Vista Norte , an initiative promoted by the Association of Contemporary Art Galleries of Asturias, which, for the first time, coordinates its galleries in a series of simultaneous openings, guided tours, and meetings with artists. Although the exhibition is open year-round, Vista Norte is established as a key event in the cultural calendar, a moment of connection between audiences, artists, and spaces.

NEXUS II
195 x 97 cm., mixed media on canvas

DVZONA is the opening of the DV Collective studio. This exhibition isn't a retrospective of their 12-year career together, but rather the culmination of that journey through the individual work of each of its members. Diana returns to painting, while Víctor presents his new line of work. Thus, we enter a space of origin, a starting point toward the artistic future of both.

Diana Coandă

A graduate in Painting from the University of Timișoara, she has a solid international career. She has participated in art exhibitions and symposiums in various European countries. In Spain, her highlights include the Salón de Otoño Prize from Caja Madrid in 2001, her solo exhibition at Valey Centro Cultural (Castrillón) in 2003, at the CMAE (Avilés) in 2008, her selection at CNAL (Luarca) in 2011, and the Casimiro Baragaña National Painting Competition Prize (Siero) in 2018.

In her new line of work, Diana explores how the ethereal and intangible can materialize on the surface of the canvas. This series explores the frozen perception of time, where vegetation appears as an echo suspended in memory, blurred between transparencies and glazes.

This creates a suggestive dialogue between geometry and organic softness, a constant tension between the natural and the artificial, the ephemeral and the permanent.

VKTR

Trained in Interior Design at the Oviedo School of Art (2010), he joined the DV Collective in 2012, where he focused on photography, experimental video, installation, and site-specific work. He has exhibited at venues such as LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial (Gijón), Centro Niemeyer (Avilés), Museo Casa Natal de Jovellanos (Gijón), Sala Borrón (Oviedo), as well as projects in Madrid, Málaga, and New York. He has also received an award at the CNAL ( National Art and Industrial Design Center) in Luarca.

Denial City

Víctor focuses his work on the value of the sketch as an initial idea and the saturation of the canvas as the driving force behind his results. Under the alias VKTR , a "naming without vowels" that reinforces synthesis, he develops a language inspired by architecture and urban planning , dominated by blacks and whites with subtle orange accents.

His project URBANALIZACIÓN (2019) marked the beginning of an individual stage with recognition in the "Casimiro Baragaña" Contemporary Painting Competition (Siero) in 2019 and 2021. Later, he participated in Art Box Project New York (2022) and presented a solo exhibition at the College of Architects of Asturias (Gijón) in 2023.

Recent works such as Denial City, Satellite and NEXUS II consolidate the current direction of his work, marked by formal synthesis and digital experimentation.
