ART Oviedo 2025

ART Oviedo | XV Contemporary Art Fair

ArteOviedo reaches its fifteenth edition this year, 2025. We could say it's celebrating its anniversary. Turning fifteen certainly deserves a celebration. And it's doing so step by step, with the aim of achieving slow but steady growth.

The primary objective of ArteOviedo is to raise awareness among the general public about the importance of contemporary art, as well as to promote ways to engage and facilitate this mission. This fifteenth edition focuses on fostering collecting as a driving force within the art world and promoting recognition of the collector as an essential agent in the art system. Through a free, personalized advisory service , the aim is to make collecting accessible to everyone and encourage new buyers to begin collecting art, as well as to strengthen existing collections with new acquisitions.

The Lucía Dueñas Gallery participates in ARTE Oviedo, XV Contemporary Art Fair of Oviedo, with the Solo Project So far, so close by the Asturian painter Saracho .

Ángel Hurtado de Saracho (Gijón, 1973) graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Leioa in the Basque Country. Even at the Faculty of Fine Arts, his work stood out for its highly personal figurative style, depicting anonymous locations and people—moments that may seem insignificant but are nonetheless integral to his life experience. In his final year at the Faculty, he was awarded a Paradores de Turismo grant , and upon completion, a jury chaired by the renowned painter Antonio López selected his work for inclusion in the permanent collection of Paradores de España.

Saracho has held numerous collective and individual exhibitions in Public Institutions, Foundations and Art Galleries, in addition to having participated in fairs such as: Room Art Fair (Madrid), Cuarto Público (Santiago de Compostela), Art3F (Bordeaux), Hybrid Art Fair (Madrid) or Flecha Artea (Bilbao) among others.

In addition, he has obtained several residential scholarships, the last one at the Noja International Artists Symposium , Sianoja 2017, in which he was one of the resident participants.

“Saracho’s paintings present a play of light and color with which he captures lived moments through a gaze always on guard, attentive to that light that falls upon the gesture of an ordinary man in each of his days. They are confident and concise brushstrokes that flow across the canvas, giving life and movement, suggesting, involving the viewer so that they approach the work and discover that the entire scene, including the characters, are nothing more than precise and well-combined marks with which the painter has given birth to a vital and seductive work.”

So far, so close

Routine and the everyday form the silent fabric of our existence. This series offers a close look at those seemingly insignificant, seemingly minor scenes of daily life: fragments of urban and natural environments where the human presence is revealed, explicitly or subtly, in every gesture and every trace.

Waiting, habits, the commonplace… everything we believe to be distant acquires a new proximity here, reminding us that the everyday also holds its own poetics.

Saracho's work, figurative but far removed from the desire for reproduction, is based on careful observation and attention to color; research into painting as a discipline and as a technique is, along with the everyday, the axis of his production.
