Oviedo ART | XII Contemporary Art Fair

We once again participate in ARTE Oviedo, XII Oviedo Contemporary Art Fair.

The activity, organized by the Oviedo Municipal Foundation for Culture, aims to make visible the work of Asturian galleries and artists.

 

We present a Solo Project by Rodrigo Martín (Langreo, Asturias, 1986).

THE SHINE AND THE SWORD

We are living in a context in which geometry is more necessary than ever. The search for an order within all this excess of information, data, images or opinions. When even silence is not enough, the image exerts the greatest of its powers, establishing a necessary formal influence. Letting everything be in its place, in its proper place, the line being straighter than ever and the curve drawing the smoothest direction that can be accessed with the look.

The brightness is a consequence of the sword and the sword of brightness respectively. The pointed shape as the base element of all the compositions leads one to think of something violent or sharp that is articulated in different ways describing situations, describing directions, being a totemic central axis, developing metaphors or pointing directly to a direction (spectator).

But if something is changing with respect to his work, it is the use of color. Previously, black had a very important weight that has faded as the shape and its composition in the painting become more important. Color in geometry begins by occupying a space that is originally flat, but by relating tones it can produce the games that lead to the perception of volume.

The gloss is the final point, the touch of oil at the end of the sword.
