CER.O 2025

CER.O | XIII National Creative Ceramics Fair

We participated for the second consecutive year in CER.O Cerámica !!

From September 19 to 21 , Oviedo hosts the National Creative Ceramics Fair , CER.O.13 , organized by the Municipal Culture Foundation of the Oviedo City Council and the Asturian Ceramists Association . This event is consolidating its position as an essential meeting point for contemporary ceramics, a space where tradition and avant-garde intertwine, and where material becomes an artistic language.

In a country where ceramics is still struggling to find its rightful place within contemporary art, fairs like CER.O are essential. Their purpose is to showcase the work of creators whose work transcends the label of craftsmanship, placing ceramics on a level comparable to any other artistic discipline. CER.O offers the public the opportunity to discover pieces that explore everything from abstraction to geometry, from nature to material art, from the poetry of forms to social activism.

This year, the fair incorporates a strong solidarity focus with the initiative "Ceramicists in Oviedo after the DANA ," which will give voice and visibility to Valencian ceramists affected by the DANA through talks, screenings, and activities.

We present a Solo Project from SATURDAY

Collective formed by Inés Iglesias (Salamanca, 1978) and Natalia Suárez (Laviana, 1976).

On Saturdays, they like to have a late breakfast, drink Camparis, eat pizza, rewatch Ally McBeal, and have sex, for example. On Saturdays, they also like to make animal masks with unexpected color combinations. As if a megachromatic cosmos overflowing with M had spat in those foxes' faces.

All creations of SATURDAY These are unique pieces. Natalia begins the process of serially reproducing the masks and assembling the pieces for the vases , casting white clay in a completely artisanal way. Once the pieces have dried, they undergo an initial firing or bisque firing. Inés hand-paints each mask or vase, using colored slips and glazes with effects, bringing each character to life. The process ends with glazing and kiln firing in her own workshop.

Obviously this could only happen once Saturday .

"We name each of the masks after a musician. We don't have any automatic process for doing this, neither alphabetically nor by arrival. We look at each one like someone looking at a blind date and give it a name."
